Maestro: a 100% local AI studio for video, images and music
Give Maestro one prompt and it plans the shots, writes the screenplay, generates the clips and stitches them together, all on your own PC. Here's what it does and what hardware you need.
What if one prompt could produce a whole short film or music video without any cloud service? That's the idea behind Maestro, an all-in-one AI studio that runs entirely on your own computer.
Three modes
- Director mode: a local language model plans every shot, writes the screenplay or lyrics, makes start frames and runs the multi-clip generation. It has two skills: Music Video, which plans shots around your song's beats, and Short Film, which is driven by a screenplay.
- Studio mode: full manual control over video, image and audio models. You can extend clips, retake them, outpaint, upscale, make voices and music, and run long generations.
- Editor: recent versions add a multi-track timeline editor for video, audio and titles.
Install
Maestro installs through the free Pinokio launcher: find Maestro in the Discover tab and click Install. It doesn't need a Maestro account or a Hugging Face account. Each model's weights download the first time you use it.
What you need
| Minimum | Recommended | |
|---|---|---|
| GPU | NVIDIA, 6 GB VRAM | 24 GB+ VRAM (RTX 3090/4090/5090) |
| RAM | 16 GB | 32 GB+ |
| Disk | 150 GB free | 500 GB free |
| OS | Windows 10/11 or Linux | Windows 11 |
The official README says macOS and AMD GPUs aren't supported yet (a separate community wrapper for AMD exists). A typical install pulls 50 to 100 GB of model weights.
The licence
Maestro is free to use, but it isn't "open source" in the strict sense. It uses the WanGP Non-Commercial Evaluation License: you can use and modify it for non-commercial purposes, and the outputs you make are yours to use commercially with attribution. Selling or hosting the software itself needs a separate commercial licence. Individual models also have their own terms, so check them before using outputs commercially.
If you have a strong NVIDIA card, Maestro is one of the most complete free ways to make AI video locally.
